On Campus: New Engineering Building at UAH

While the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s College of Engineering often makes the news for groundbreaking accomplishments, this time they made the news for an actual groundbreaking! A new engineering building at UAH is underway to support the needs of the growing college.

About the new engineering building

In April, community leaders, school officials and others gathered on-site to celebrate the new engineering building at UAH. The first phase of construction on the 80,000-square-foot facility is officially underway.

The future home to engineering students, faculty and staff will feature cutting-edge, modernized research and teaching facilities. The addition of the new building will support the efforts of the UAH College of Engineering, including advanced research, innovation and collaborative learning.

More about the UAH College of Engineering

Currently, there are more than 2,800 students enrolled in the college, along with 70 faculty members. The college boasts eight accredited undergraduate engineering programs. The programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Accredited programs include aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering and mechanical engineering, just to name a few. You can learn more about the college and its programs by visiting them at uah.edu/eng.

Location

The new engineering building at UAH will be located to the west of the current Engineering Building at 301 Sparkman Drive, next to the campus lake along John Wright Drive.

Did you know that the University of Alabama at Huntsville is about 12 miles from Summer Place Apartments? That means you can arrive on campus after about a 20-minute drive.
