Construction on the new Space Camp Operations Center in Huntsville continues to progress. In fact, if all goes according to plan, Space Camp may look a little different by mid-2023.
About the new Space Camp Operations Center
The official groundbreaking for the massive Space Camp Operations Center in Huntsville was held in October 2021.
At that time, it was announced the full name of the future center would actually be the “Boeing Space Camp Operations Center.” Boeing’s generous donation toward the project is yet another example of the company’s commitment to Space Camp. They have been proud partners of Space Camp since its beginning in 1982.
The Space Camp Operations Center will be more than 40,000 square feet. It will include six new check-in areas, a 1,000-seat auditorium, 10 classrooms, labs and more.
Other awe-inspiring features include a one-of-a-kind exterior moon map as well as lunar panels in the lobby. Inside, campers will also find the Cyber Command Center, which will be the heart of the U.S. Cyber Camp program.
However, this state-of-the-art space isn’t just for Space Camp attendees. The meeting center can be rented and reserved by the public.
