You may have heard a thing or two about the South Huntsville Public Library. Like, the fact that it’s possible because of a collaboration among the Madison County Commission, the Huntsville Library Commission, and the City of Huntsville. Or, that it reflects a $9.5 million investment in the community. Well, we have one more piece of info to add to the mix: it’s officially open! So, come check it out on the north end of the Sandra Moon Community Complex.

Huntsville residents have eagerly anticipated the South Huntsville Public Library for a decade now. It officially opened on September 28. Considering all that it has to offer, we think it’s very much worth the wait!
They may also recognize the location. The 30,000-square-foot library sits on the former Grissom High School campus!
Features and highlights
This isn’t your average library! The South Huntsville Public Library comes chockful of amazing additions. Some of the highlights include:
- A learning garden;
- An indoor fireplace;
- An outside vendor coffee shop;
- A classroom;
- Free Wi-Fi;
- Study rooms;
- A children’s puppet theater;
- A 3-D printer;
- A quiet reading room;
- Laptop checkout; and
- A teen gaming center.

People with all interests can find something fantastic at the South Huntsville Public Library. If you want to visit, head on over to 7901-L Bailey Cove Road—just an eight-minute drive or 4.7 miles from Summer Place.
Fun fact: The library is open seven days a week! Its hours range from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
